Are you sure that you hvae .net 1.1 installed? and that its in the right directory? and that the folders arent marked as read-only? _________________ there's no place like 127.0.0.1 |

I use several programs that use .net without a problem. I am at work right now but I think I have .net 2.0 installed. There should be no problems with files marked as read only unless they were zipped that way. In terms of directories, I just created them as normal like I have done 1,000 times without a problem.
Could it be that I need .net 1.1 and not 2.0? That would seem odd. |

sabot is included in the Q4FastStart zip file, so is the q4max files you need. everthing is included. Try deleting the folder in your quake directory named "sabot" (if there is one) and then extract Q4FastStart.rar to your quake4 directory.
After that you should have a sabot folder in your quake directory. Inside that folder there should be a folder name Q4FastStart(or similar).
see if it works after you did that.
Also... are you running an xp machine, or is it win2000? are you running it on the same machine taht you did before?

yeah try running .net 1.1, its also possible that you will have to adjust your .net security (.net wizards in the control panel) and in my experience 2000 machines tend to give lots of shit with .net apps. _________________ there's no place like 127.0.0.1 |

OK, here goes.
I am running on my same XP machine (everything updated always).
I deleted the Sabot directory and unzipped Q4FastStart again (I didn't install Sabot before Q4FastStart).
I have Net Framework 1.1, Net Framework 1.1 Hotfix, and Net Framework 2.0 installed.
I am using the same Quake 4 install with the same Quake4_1_0_5_Beta_Patch installed.
I ran Q4Setup just fine with no problems.
I ran Q4FastStart again and got the same error message.
I tried removing custom map PK4 files. No change.
I typically don't have problems like this.
Maybe I will uninstall Net Framework 2.0 and reinstall 1.1.
Any other ideas?? |

Could you please send me your email addy, I am giong to try and fix the prob and send you updated .exe files all the time. All you will have to do is give me feed back on any changes that occur and so on??
Can you please let me know when you will be available for this. it will take me about 10minutes each time to make a new exe and send it. I just want to try and figure out where the problem comes in.
Thanks for the help man... im sure we will sort it out soon, its literally imposible for me to sort it out on my own because I dont have any problams running it

twism,
So we are clear on what tonight means, It is currently 10:00 AM right now for me. I will be here off and on. If we can be here together, I am game.
You can email me at (removed)
I tried to uninstall Net Framework and had uninstall problems. Now I am having trouble installing 1.1.
Still doesn't explain why I had no trouble with the first version of Q4Setup however.

Yes I did. I was using a Winzip clone to open up the RAR file. For some reason some of the files did not extract properly. I even unzipped it several times and it did the same thing.
Twism was patient enough to send me a debug version and I noticed that it was looking for directories I didn't have.
I installed Winrar and unzipped everything properly. Everything worked great after that.
In the end, it had nothing to do with Quake4 FastStart. |
